Shoonya

What comes to your mind when you hear the word Shoonya ?

Most of them imagine Empty space. In mathematics the word Shoonya refers to Zero. From this it is natural to equate zero or nothingness to the word shoonya. Because of this, many people have a nihilistic perspective towards this term. But in reality Shoonya is not emptiness.

You can call something as full or empty only if there is a limit to it. For eg. A glass can be full only because there is a limit to its capacity. And if there is no limit to something it can never be full or empty. Everything that we see around and percieve has a limit to it in the physical world. Because human mind which is formed out of physical world, it also cannot percieve that which is limitless. To understand that limitlessness one has to go beyond physical, into the subtle dimension. This subtle dimension is a state which we refer as SHOONYA. Shoonya refers to that state of limitlessness which can encompass everything. It is divine in nature, as it is all inclusive.

Why we need Shoonya ?

If we limit ourselves to physical world, because of its limited nature, human consciouness can’t evolve beyond a point. As one reach this limit one would feel congested. At this point, one has to switch from physical to subtle to continue the expansion of consciousness. To evolve towards unlimitedness one has to move towards the state of shoonya.

How to arrive at Shoonya?

Since the terrain in the subtle dimension is unknown to the logical mind which only knows the physical it cannot be a helpful tool to travel here. So one has to take the guidence of someone who is already in that state of SHOONYA. We refer to that guide as GURU. With the guidence of Guru and internal light of self experience one can effortlessly arrive to the point of SHOONYA. The light of experience can be ignited through the Sadhanas guided by GURU and can reach to its radiance with the intensity or longing towards it.

What would one get in SHOONYA?

Since the state of shoonya is like a clean canvas or a newborn child, it is full of creativity and vitality. If you have a canvas and all the paints and brushes, you can create anything out of it. Similarly from the state of shoonya one can pursue and materialize anything. So that is how all the  knowledge has been revealed to humanity. So as one explores the state of SHOONYA one can feel the abundance which is an enriching experience. It is so rich and priceless, that one would not exchange it for anything of the world, because the world is derived out of it.
